Ontario, CA- January 23, 2018: The Ontario Jaguars had looked off in their victories over Chaffey and Colony. A different mindset was apparent in a blowout 66-32 victory over Don Lugo. After a competitive first quarter Ontario went on a 26-7 run to put the game out of reach by halftime.
“We were more competitive in the last couple of practices and we were more focused in the hours leading up to the game” said Head Coach Chris Emami. When asked about what the result of that was, “This game was won in the two days leading up to the game with our preparation. All 13 kids contributed tonight and they made each other better in practice.”
Leading the way for Ontario was Kyra Williams with 21. “She know realizes what she is capable of every single night. This has been a spectacular stretch for her” said Coach Chris.
Jazzlyn Johnson had a balanced stat line with 20 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists, and 7 steals. Coach Chris had this to say about her game, “The fact that she contributed in every aspect of the game was great. That stat line is impressive because it shows how versatile she is.”
Besides the leading scorers the following people scored for Ontario: Maya Davis had 4 points, Julianna Sanchez had 9 points, Surai Perez had 4 points, Ariana Fealofai had 3 points, and Laisha Coria had 5 points.
Ontario is 21-1 on the season and 5-0 in Mt. Baldy League play. They next face Alta Loma High School in a Mt. Baldy League game. “They are better than what they showed last time. We need to really clamp down on the boards and tune up our defense” said Coach Chris.
The Alta Loma game is scheduled for Friday January 26th. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:45 PM at Ontario High School.
