Ontario, CA- January 30, 2018: The Ontario Jaguars started the game on fire with a 14-0 run to start the game. However, the defensive intensity let up and Ontario looked a step off in their rotations for the remaining three quarters. In spite of the missed opportunities, Ontario ended up winning by a final score of 62-26.
“I am being very critical of our team but our effort was not strong enough tonight” said Head Coach Chris Emami. When asked about specifics, “We need to put forth a 100% effort for an entire game as we go forward.”
Leading the way for Ontario was Jazzlyn Johnson with 25. “She is definitely consistent with her scoring this season” said Coach Chris.
Kyra Williams chipped in with 12 points. Coach Chris had this to say about her game, “Her defensive assignment changed right before tip-off and she did a great job adapting to the change in plans.”
With a consistent overall game was Kartrinna Hua with 7 points and a strong rebounding/defensive effort. “Kartrinna has played a very good role this season and tonight she really took advantage of her opportunity”.
Besides the leading scorers the following people scored for Ontario: Maya Davis had 2 points, Julianna Sanchez had 6 points, Stphania Franco had 4 points, and Clarissa Pineda had 2 points.
Ontario is 23-1 on the season and 7-0 in Mt. Baldy League play. They next face Chaffey High School in a Mt. Baldy League game. “We need to be much better than our last game against them” said Coach Chris.
The Chaffey game is scheduled for Friday February 2nd. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:45 PM at Ontario High School.
