Ontario, CA- February 2, 2018: Ontario was missing multiple players going into the Chaffey game and still found a way to gut out a 52-41 win. The win came on Senior Night with multiple Seniors stepping up in a big way.
“Not having our full roster was not a concern because we have the mentality that everyone needs to step up when they are called upon.” said Head Coach Chris Emami. When asked about the positives, “We showed how tough we can be when a game is on the line.”
Jazzlyn Johnson led all scorers with 26 points and made it a double-double with 13 rebounds. Coach Chris had this to say about her effort, “When one of your shortest players can be your leading rebounders, it really shows you what kind of heart she has.”
Also in double digits was Kyra Williams with 16. “For whatever reason she seems to always have big games against Chaffey” said Coach Chris.
Julianna Sanchez only had 2 points; however, she added a team high 7 assists, and 8 rebounds. “Overall a solid game for her with setting up her teammates and battling on the boards” said Coach Chris.
Besides the leading scorers the following people scored for Ontario: Kartrinna Hua had 3 points, Clarissa Pineda had 1 point, and Maya Davis had 6 points.
Ontario is 24-1 on the season and 8-0 in Mt. Baldy League play. They next face Colony High School in a Mt. Baldy League game. “We need to really step up on defense and with the rebounding this time against them” said Coach Chris.
The Colony game is scheduled for Tuesday February 6th. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:45 PM at Colony High School.
